The mobilization of lipid by anterior pituitary growth hormone.

چکیده
essentially the same picture; an initial depression of the respiratory quotient which was maintained in the case of the free-fed animals but which, in the case of the limit-fed group, rose to the control levels after 50 days of treatment. 5. The results are believed to demonstrate that protein deposition in growth-hormone-treated rats can only take place as a result of an increased emphasis on fat catabolism, with a consequent sparing of dietary proteins for deposition in the tissues. As a corollary to this, it has been shown that in limit-fed rats growth ceases when the body stores of labile fat are exhausted. It is suggested that one of the primary effects of growth hormone activity is in the catabolism of fat.

P-198: Utilization of Pichia Pastoris Secretion System for Expression of Equine Follicle Stimulating Hormone
Background: Equine follicle stimulating hormone (eFSH) is a pituitary heterodimeric glycoprotein consists of noncovalently linked of generic alpha subunit and a hormone specific beta subunit. The molecular weights of the subunits are similar and about 16 KD. In general, FSH plays a key role in controlling vertebrate gonadal functions. In female mammals, ovarian maturation and follicular growth ...
متن کاملNitric oxide synthase in the rat anterior pituitary gland and the role of nitric oxide in regulation of luteinizing hormone secretion.
By using immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, we have demonstrated that the nitric oxide (NO)-synthesizing enzyme NO synthase is present in gonadotrophs and in folliculo-stellate cells of the anterior pituitary gland of male and female rats. A marked increase in levels of NO synthase protein and mRNA was observed after gonadectomy. In vitro studies on dispersed anterior pituitary cel...
متن کاملPhysiology of Growth Hormone Secretion
Growth hormone (GH) is secreted in a pulsatile fashion from the anterior pituitary gland. The synthesis and the secretion of GH are regulated mainly by two hypothalamic neuropeptides, the growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and somatostatin. A wide variety of physiologic and hormonal factors exert an effect on GH secretion. This paper will review physiology of GH secretion and the factors t...
متن کاملSomatotropin in the treatment of growth hormone deficiency and Turner syndrome in pediatric patients: a review
Growth hormone (GH), also known as somatotropin, is a peptide hormone that is synthesized and secreted by the somatotrophs of the anterior pituitary gland. The main action of GH is to stimulate linear growth in children; however, it also fosters a healthy body composition by increasing muscle and reducing fat mass, maintains normal blood glucose levels, and promotes a favorable lipid profile. T...
متن کاملBiosynthesis of growth hormone in the rat anterior pituitary gland. Stimulation of biosynthesis in vitro by insulin.
The effect of insulin on the incorporation of radioactive leucine into growth hormone was investigated by using rat anterior pituitary glands incubated in vitro. A 50% stimulation over control values was observed at insulin concentrations above 2mum (280munits/ml). The effect was specific for growth hormone biosynthesis, over the range 1-5mum-insulin (140-700munits/ml). Lower more physiological...
